Our son has taken violin lessons from Chris for more than 6 years now, and our daughter has taken viola lessons for the past year. We highly recommend Chris as a teacher. He is so skilled at helping a student to learn proper posture and form from the very beginning, and to constantly challenge and encourage the advancing student. He has a great rapport with my kids, and is a key part of them learning to play well and to love music.

My passion to learn to play a guitar has been there for a very long time but I never felt like sticking to lessons and had always got discouraged after 1 or 2 lessons.
Chris is the first instructor who has taught me guitar lessons over the years and I have gone back to him every single lesson.
He is an excellent teacher who makes learning fun. He explains and focuses on fundamentals and is very passionate about sharing his music knowledge.
Over the years I have come to know Chris as a musician who views teaching as a greater mission rather than just a hobby or a profession.

Chris was the perfect teacher for our young musician. Our son studied with Chris for 8 years and we have nothing but good things to say about him both as a teacher and the learning environment that he provided. He was patient and encouraging. After a first violin teacher that was not a good fit, our son no longer wanted to pursue the violin, but once he began studying with Chris he loved it and was inspired to excel! He played with the NH Youth Symphony, NH All State Symphony and Select String Ensemble. He did play in his college symphony for a couple of years as well, being chosen as first chair his second year. He did not go on to play professionally as some of Chris’ other students have, however music continues to be passion of his and he plays multiple instruments in addition to the violin. Playing an instrument will be something that he can enjoy for the remainder of his life and we have Chris to thank for inspiring that!

I took violin lessons with Mr. Cavanaugh for years and I thoroughly enjoyed it!! He helped me make significant progress in both my technique and the quality of my sound. He pushes you to be your best and is always encouraging. I had a lot of good times taking lessons here!!
